Otto von Busch is Associate Professor of Integrated Design at Parsons School of Design, The New School. He holds a Ph.D. in design from the School of Design and Craft at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and was previously Professor of Textiles at Konstfack, Stockholm. In his research, he explores the emergence of a new hacktivist designer role in fashion, where the designer engages participants to reform fashion from a phenomenon of dictations, anxiety, and fear into a collective experience of empowerment and liberation.

I've attended Otto von Busch workshop. It was kind of sustainable fashion. Before I've attended this workshop I tried to watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miWzqZmKAlw. Otto von Busch haute-couture heretic and DIY-demagogue visits the RSA to present his extensive series of projects that experiment with the reverse-engineering, hacking, tuning and sharing of fashion as a form of social activism.

He made to think about when we speak of sustainable consumption, what do we really want to sustain? What emotions do we value, what behaviors, what abilities, what relations with others? How about fashion? Celebrity culture? Cheap accessibility? We can rethink the way we reproduce consumerism. How can we make fashion not only sustainable, but imagine ways designers also help consumers become fashion-able?
